Hello, and welcome to The Sober Journey. I am a writer, blogger and business consultant living in successful sobriety for over twelve years.
In 2007, after many years of addiction, I managed to finally get sober through Alcoholics Anonymous and the 12 Steps, for which I am forever grateful. However, I found the maintenance of long-term serenity and emotional sobriety vastly more challenging.
I have struggled throughout my life with a very restless mind and emotional mood swings that have caused me fear, insomnia, and anxiety.
Like many people—both addicts and non-addicts alike—I needed to figure out how to remain at peace. Over the past years, I have researched, studied and practiced various spiritual pursuits that have helped me successfully maintain my sobriety and find the peace of mind that eluded me for most of my life.
The Sober Journey represents what I’ve learned so that struggling addicts, newcomers, and anyone else can gather together and explore their own path in recovery.
This is not a site just for 12 Steppers. I believe that there is more than one way to get and stay sober. Although we welcome 12 Step members, we also invite all sobriety travelers to participate and share in our journey.
